Level measurement is an important parameter used in industrial facilities to monitor and control the level of liquids and bulk solids. Various level sensors are used for this purpose. Level sensors operate based on different principles depending on the type of material and the application. In general, level sensors can be classified into three categories: level transmitters, level switches, and level indicators.
Level Measurement Systems
1. Radar Level Sensors: Radar level sensors measure the distance between the sensor and the surface of the product using electromagnetic waves. Thanks to their non-contact measurement principle, they enable highly accurate level measurement of both liquids and solids.
2. Guided Wave Radar Level Sensors: Guided wave radar level sensors perform level measurement by using radar signals transmitted along a probe or guiding element. The probe extends into the process medium, and the level is determined by analyzing the signals reflected from the product surface.
3. Ultrasonic Level Sensors: Ultrasonic level sensors perform non-contact level measurement using high-frequency sound waves. They can be used in a wide range of industrial applications where fast and reliable level measurement of liquids and solids is required.
4. Tank Gauging System: Tank gauging systems are primarily used in the petroleum and petrochemical industries to accurately monitor the level, temperature, and other process parameters of liquid hydrocarbons stored in tanks.
In radar-based tank gauging systems, electromagnetic signals transmitted by a radar level measurement device mounted on the tank travel toward the product surface and are reflected back. The reflected signals are analyzed to determine the product level with high accuracy.
By evaluating level measurements together with temperature, pressure, and other required process data, the volume of the product in the tank and, in suitable systems, its mass can be calculated. This information provides valuable data for inventory management, operational efficiency, product quality, and process safety.
Our company provides tank gauging solutions based on advanced radar technologies, offering high accuracy, reliability, and measurement continuity. Our systems for petroleum and petrochemical applications contribute to the accurate and effective monitoring of liquid hydrocarbons.
Level Switches
1. Vibrating Level Switches: Vibrating level switches detect whether the product has reached the specified level by monitoring changes in the vibration of the sensing element. When the sensor comes into contact with or moves away from the product, its vibration characteristics change, and the system generates a switching signal accordingly.
2. Capacitive Level Switches: Capacitive level switches provide level control by detecting changes in capacitance between the sensor and the product. When the product level rises above or falls below the specified threshold, an output signal is generated and transmitted to the process control system.
3. Radiometric Level Switches: Radiometric level switches detect level by measuring the attenuation of gamma radiation emitted from a radiation source as it passes through the process medium. When the product reaches the specified threshold level, the system generates a switching signal, contributing to process control.
Level Indicators
1. Glass Level Indicators: Glass level indicators allow the liquid level inside a tank or process vessel to be directly observed through a transparent tube or glass display element. Thanks to their simple design and reliable operating principle, they are widely used in various industrial applications.
2. Magnetic Level Indicators: Magnetic level indicators operate by means of a magnetic float that moves according to the level of the process medium. The movement of the float is transferred to an external indication system, allowing the level to be displayed clearly and continuously.
Level sensors, switches, and indicators play an important role in ensuring reliable level measurement, monitoring, and control in industrial processes. Our company offers a wide range of level measurement and control products designed for different process conditions and application requirements.
Our products are designed to provide effective level measurement and control in industrial processes through high measurement accuracy, durable construction, and reliable operating performance.
